Well, I kind of knew this would happen....I really dropped the ball when it comes to my blog. Somehow I lost it during the holidays. No I didn't lose my mind, but came close a couple of times. What I mean is, I just lost the urge to blog. So I guess I will do a quick holiday update and try to do better. (It didn't help much when my computer crashed and then the girls broke the power cord.) So no more excuses... :)
October ~ Fall Festivals, Pumpkin Patches & Halloween
Autumn Leaves Festival in Mt. Airy has always been an annual family tradition (even before the girls came along). Mt. Airy is one of my favorite places, its a small town where Andy Griffith was born. Mayberry was based on Mt. Airy in his show the Andy Griffith Show. During the Autumn Leaves Festival, main street is blocked off and filled with food and little arts and crafts booths. We always get some kettle corn, cotton candy and candy apples and sit and listen to the live bluegrass show. We also bought the girls little "Blue Devils" (dada's favorite college basketball team) pocketbooks. Can't wait to do it again next year!
Pumpkin Patch
This year we found a awesome pumkin patch thanks to another twin momma! It was located in the Blue Ridge mountains of Va. Cana, Va to be exact. The girls had a ball throwing bean bags, bouncing in the bouncy house and running through the pumpkin patch. However they did not like the corn pit. But overall, it was a great time and we will be definitely going back next year!
Carving pumpkins, costumes, and candy!!! My girls are only 2 but I still try to do all the fun activities as much as possible. Sometimes it goes better in my head than it does in real life but its memories and that is what is important! Being my indecisive self I could not decide on just one costume for the girls so we went with three. It only made sense since we had more than one Halloween function (and I collect various things though thrifting all through the year and can not pass up a good deal, so I had picked up more than one costume). Our first Halloween Party was our annual Trunk or Treat with my Gmom (Greensboro Mom of Multiples) group. Its my favorite. I love seeing all the twinsies and enjoing time with fellow moms of multiples. Since it was quite cold that day we went with the warmest costume which was the Monkey See and Monkey Do monkey outfits. This was not my first choice but we had to go with it...thank goodness I'm indecisive and had backups! However, the girls were not fond of them and were fussy and moody and just wanted to rip them off, this is why I never really got a good picture of them wearing it. We had fun and thats all that matters. We came home with lots of snacks and candy!
Unfortunately, our church trunk or treat was cancelled due to a conflict with a ballgame, but we managed to find other church trunk or treats and still get loads of candy! The girls went as little witches, which turned out to be the cutest thing ever. They insisted on carrying their monkeys which some people thought was part of the costume...however, I can not take credit for this. They just love those monkeys!
Our last costume, I could not resist. Kind of unplanned...since my girls are in that stage of growing their hair out and it being all over the place. I sometimes call them "little shaggies"....so a light bulb went of, why not dress them up as shaggy off of Scooby Doo? I could not help it. Here is the result.....
But lastly but not least. The best part of October was meeting with my parents (mamaw and papaw Lockhart) at Cracker Barrel and having dinner and playing outside on the porch!
